This building housed the Packard Works, a British concession of the US-Canadian motor company. This building was said to have been destroyed by a German V2 rocket towards the end of WW2 in Europe. Many were killed and injured on the site and in the immediate area. I wonder how severe was the damage that the building suffered, as it appears much the same as the original pre-war version.

Originally the HQ of Brittol Syndicate Ltd. This company was concerned with engine lubricants and solvent research. It ceased trading in 1934 and I believe that this site housed the Motor Industry Research Association at the time of the photograph. The site went on to become the government Admiralty Oil Laboratory from 1953 until 1968 when it moved to Cobham.
