This is a row of 7 Berths along the river side that once belonged to the Newcastle Shipbuilding Co that operated from 1919 to 1921 & then went bankrupt. A few of the Berths were there previously & belonged to the small Ship Building Co of 'Huntley Shipbuilding Co' who were bought out by the Newcastle Shipbuilding Co.

This factory was a gear wheel/gearbox manufacturing company but originally it had been a Plater's Shed for the unlucky Newcastle Shipbuilding Co. They'd started off in 1919 & went bust in 1921. Reay Gears from Gateshead bought the sheds at the end of the 20s, then in later years it became Geo Angus Gears & finally Richardson Westgarth Transmissions (RWT). It finally closed mid 1970s & the land is now a Housing Estate.
