Bus depot near North Dock. The buses are single-decker half cabs. Could this be the Sunderland depot of Darlington Triumph Services. This company became part of the state-owned Durham District Services 1950-1968.

This was one of the gas lamp standards. At that time, the street lighting was gas.

I believe this building was for a furniture factory.

St John's Church of England School. The entrance and the small playground were off the small street on the other side of the building, not seen in the photo, the street leading up from Moor School to Barrack Street.

I believe these were pit props imported for the mines in County Durham

This was a row of wooden houses facing on to the street with back entrances on the barracks side

There was a narrow footpath into the former barracks here

This space was used for all the Corporation buses as they waited to take men ending work at the docks and who would come out of the docks up the bank next to the entrance to the former barracks.
