' A fine view of Canning Town Bridge. Opened in 1934 it was the first stage of the improved road links to the Royal Docks which culminated in the Silvertown Way as mentioned in the ealier post. Walked over, cycled and drove over this bridge daily from 1971 to 76. Lived in Poplar and served an apprenticeship in the Royal Docks. My father talks of my grandfather taking him to the opening ceromony of this bridge when a huge number of steam rollers were assembled and trundled over the bridge to prove its construction. Would like to see a phot of that. Maybe in Newham Councils archives perhaps. '
