' One Of six trams seen crossing the bridge. Still a year to go before the establishment of the London Transport Passenger Board so they all belong to the LCC. Westminster Bridge was the busiest stretch of tram track in London with routes from North London via the kingsway Subway [Islington Green - Wandsworth; Manor House - West Norwood; Archway Highgate - Forest Hill]. From Wimbledon and Streatham [rounders via Blackfriars Bridge and The Elephant] in South west London, and from Abbey Wood, Woolwich, Peckham, and The Blackwall Tunnel in South East london and Kent. Four routes [36, 38, 40 and 72] continued to run here right up to the last day, 5th July 1952, of London's trams. '
