' "The Willows" market garden. "The Willows" house was just off picture and stood on the E side of Poundswick Lane. Glasshouses can just be seen as well as land surrounding house, which was used to grow cut flowers etc. The Willows Cottage stood next to the main house. The house was occupied by the Webb family from c.1929, and through the 1930's. I believe the cottage was occupied by the Manston family at this time. Emmie Webb and her two daughters Marjorie and Beryl are recorded as living at The Willows on the 1939 register. Norman, Emmie's husband, who ran the market garden, died in 1938 from anthrax poisoning after using infected bonemeal. '
