An area known locally as the "Old Hill". According to local folk law this was where Cromwells followers sited a cannon to bombard Sheffield Castle held by Royalists. In Dover castle there is a canon known as Queen Elizabeth's Pocket Pistol. A plaque mentions it being used in Sheffield. '
