I think this may be the Queen Alexandra dock in Cardiff rather than the Bute East? The lock is in the wrong place for the Bute East dock which used to curve at the seaward end before a basin lock to the sea. |

I agree that this is Queen Alexandra Dock. Everything matches with the 1938 Ordnance Survey map as available from the National Library of Scotland. |
