Lockerbie Station, Dumfries-shire Lockerbie Station was built for the Caledonian Railway as a 'first-class' station on its Glasgow to Carlisle railway. It later became a junction for a branch to Dumfries, and the station buildings were provided with extensive awnings. This view shows the station from the south west, after electrification of the main line and closure of the branch, and demolition of the building on the south-bound platform and the cutting back of the awnings. The architect of the Caledonian Railway stations is not certain. They may have been designed by Sir William Tite, who certainly prepared designs for the Glasgow and Edinburgh terminals, but the Perth architect Andrew Heiton has also been quoted.
