I was here in 1954. I too, remember Miss Thom.(head teacher), she also took us for square dancing if I remember right. Miss Baxter, also a teacher. Sister Doughty, nurse Phillips, Down in the girls section, I remember Rita Bates. A blond girl named Mary. In the boys end there was Ian Edgar, Brian Principle. My final few months were spent in the outdoor ward, ward 4. Boy was it cold in the winter. Most memories were happy. Didn't like the morning porridge for breakfast though.

Hello, I was West Kirby from Jan1963 to leaving summer 1966. My name was Patricia Leaman (Pat) I remember being friends with Jenny (Holmes?) She was very good at art and I think came from Skipton.

Sister Doubleday...if we heard her coming down the corridor at night we would immediately jump back into our beds. Sister Williams, she was very nice. Mrs. Thom, Headmistress. Teacher, Mrs Yates, took us for sports. There was a teacher whose name I cannot remember who was friends with Cynthia Lennon ( Beatle/John Lennon's ex-wife) she would bring Beatle memoribilia in for us.

Only slept in the outside section once, then it was closed off and made into a day room. The old quarantine was'nt used so it was turned into dorms. I was in a 3 bedded room sharing with , I think Jenny and another girl...Gwyneth. I also remember Joan Campbell.

The boys ages only went up to 14 years when I was there but the girls ages were up to 15-16.

I still have a couple of old photos somewhere...one of me taken as a new girl at 12 years old and another of a group of us when we did 1st Aid with two ladies who used to come in from outside...ohh and we are wearing those grey school skirts with bib front..awful, until they made the older girls those blue/black more modern looking skirt and top.

If anyone remembers me I would love to hear from you.

Hi Angela, I just missed you!! I left the home in 1966. I first went there when I was 8 years old in 1958 and I loved the place. I had some really good friends there and remember Sister Doubleday, who was a terror with a heart of gold. Miss Thom was the headmistress then and I admired her greatly. I can't remember all the teachers names, but I do remember Mrs Carlisle (Scottish dancing)

It's lovely to stroll down memory lane.
