| Kitchen garden producing food for the Abbey. George Buckle worked here for Mrs Russell. Later this area was cleared to make way for a car park for visitors to the Abbey. The greenhouse was demolished. This area is now part of the rose garden. |

We think this structure could have been some sort of water tower / tank for watering the plants in the walled garden - there may not have been a water supply to this part of the garden at this time, so having a rain water tank would make sense. Being high off the ground would provide water pressure . |
