A goods train entering the triangular junction to head towards Wolverhampton can be seen through the smoke haze generated by local industry. It looks as if there as a temperature invasion trapping the smoke in a thin level 'cloud'.

This has to be the same level as there is no lock.... it is just an optical illusion caused by the angles around the bridge.

I perhaps should have said 'on a lower level from the Birmingham Canal - Birmingham Level'. There are clearly two canal levels in this image
