I moved into the new houses in Wallbank Rd, which was the old drive to the hall, in 1952. I used to play in the ruins of the hall [only stood to ground floor window level]. It still had cellars and what appeared to be a passage to St Margarets Church, which was blocked of after about 20yds. Also used to play in the old hall grounds until the flats were built. The church walk footpath was walled both sides so the hall could not be seen from it. The path was known locally as "Dick & Tom's Walk", supposedly after 2 thieves who killed a butcher from Coleshill. These may have been their bodies found"In Chains" under the yard of the Gate Pub at Saltley in the 1800's.
