This huge mansion was once owned by the French Ambassador to Britain. It is still a single residence. At the time of writing this it is on the market for £4.5 million! The exterior was used some years ago for the film " End of the Affair"

Mr Kemp, who built Kemptown, lived in the North East corner of Sussex Square. The First Marquess of Bristol lived in the North West corner, sold in the 1930s but still marked Bristol Mansions (Google Street View). When Kemp ran out of funds the Marquess took over the development of Brighton, with the result that the family owned a large part of Brighton, and several roads in the town carry the Bristol name - which has no connection to the city of Bristol.
