It was more the case that the point was spring loaded and changed itself. The conductor had the job of swinging the trolley pole around. Even that was done in a lot of places by having a spring loaded point on the overhead which when the tram started to go back the other way, it would swing the pole to one side and as the tram passed it would then follow over another spring loaded point and there by reverse by it's self. |
