Armstrong Siddeley works at Parkside. Damaged in the 1940 bombing but survived. Later Bristol Siddeley and lastly Rolls Royce. Aero engines were built here. Demolished in the 1980s (?) and site turned into a 'Business' park. The streets are named after engines made at the factory. |

Goods sheds. These were still present up until the early - mid 1970s when they were demolished to make way for the shopping park that now occupies this area.

The sports field to the right of the tracks belonged (and still does) to King Henry VIII Grammar School. The poet Philip Larkin attended the school in the 1930s, as did my late father. |
