A big draw back over the years was the operation of these points. Here they are worked by rodding over the bridge to the small cabin on the other side on the right. The rodding had to disconnect every time the bridge was swung. Eventually the problem was part solved by moving the point blades to just outside of that cabin and inter lacing the track. The next solution was power point operated by a submarine cable across the river and finally when the main line was diverted away, the points and the loop lines were removed.
