Commencing the day at 20-0 in reply to Englands first innings total of 313-9 declared (Compton 116, Bailey 93), New Zealand went on to reach 372-7 with Donnelly 126*. He went on to score 206 out of a total of 484 and the match, which was only of 3 days duration, predictably ended in a draw.
