Original main station building - in common with most stations on this line the current 'Fast' lines were built first, so the main building was on this side. The 'Slow'lines, nearest the camera, were extended southwards in the 1890s, and at first served only for goods traffic. They were converted to passenger lines in 1906.

After WW2 they were used for a while by the Joint Fire Research Organisation, whose main site is just off to the left of the photo.
