The remains of the old viaduct that used to connect Cumbria and Dumfries and Galloway. The Cumbrian side, how it looks today: You can still walk to the end of the old viaduct abutment but it's a bit of a struggle, the path is very overgrown and neglected. Once you reach the end there is a great view across the solway and one frame of the great iron structure that used to support to railway line is still standing.

We are working on the Borders Project on the Cumbrian side of the Solway Firth. Next week we will be starting youth workshops with The Solway Nature Explorers at Campfield Marsh, just next to the remains of the viaduct.

We will be using the shape of the remaining frame as a viewfinder to teach photography and composition skills to the Solway Nature Explorers. Their photographs will be turned into stencils and prints to produce land art made using natural pigments and materials from the local area. These will be recorded and turned into postcards to be sent back into the community.

You can see the photography work of the Solway Nature Explorers (9-14yrs) in the pins on this aerial photograph!
