This was the Reay Gear works at the bottom of Prince Consort Rd Hebburn. Later it belonged to George Angus and then later RW Transmissions. Today it is gone and a Housing Estate stands there

Hebburn Ballast Hill which was composed of sand and gravel that the boats used to stabilise them when they came to the Tyne for coal etc. Ballast was removed and the boats the filled with coal. Today ships use water as ballast which can be pumped out quickly.
