Granelli and Sons 124 Manchester Street, In the 1960s & 1970s most of the demolition teams used to have their breakfasts in Granelli's, It was a full-blown café by then. It was also a unofficial employment exchange If you had no work on you would go in at breakfast time to see if anyone was a man short. This block of shops would not be here today if it wasn’t for John Granelli, the council wanted to pull it down but John Granelli stood his ground and the council had to back down.
