The Tharsis reservoir. It had steeply sloping brick lined sides & when looking into the water you couldn't see the bottom. It was probably 30ft deep & very dangerous due to the sloping sides. Tharsis moved out of Hebburn & left that Reservoir unfenced. Consequently a young lad called Colqhoun who was my age drowned in it about 1950 ish. '
