' Highgate Windmill – built circa 1800 and worked as a mill until it fell into disuse circa 1865. At this time the then owner, Charles Eyland removed the mill machinery and converted the top into a viewing room, even installing a form of “camera obscura”. In 1925 the ownership had passed to a Mr George Skidmore who repaired, strengthened and refurbished the then run down structure and installed a large equatorial refracting telescope. By 1960 the mill had again fallen into disrepair and is little changed in 2013. '
