' London Hydraulic Power Company. The company was established in 1883 to install a hydraulic power network in London. This one opened in 1883 and was one of 5 hydraulic power stations. At its peak, the network consisted of 180 miles (290 km) of pipes, and the total power output was about 7,000 horsepower (5.2 MW). The company began to replace it's stem engines with electric motors in 1923 and the network was finally closed in 1977. '
