St Johns Beacon started life as a chimney for the 'smoke' from the boilers of St Johns shopping centre, this incorporated an open air viewing platform at the top and revolving restaurant on the floor below. after being closed for many years (opening once or twice with failed ventures) the top floor was covered over and it became the home of Liverpool's commercial radio station 'Radio City'. happily once again there is viewing area open to the public. '
